Ladyfest Eclectic at The Elm Tree
Ladyfest Eclectic
Event type: Concert
Date: 2007-03-27
I hadn't heard anything about Ladyfest until I got an email from one of my friends who was taking part. Her latest short film, One Little Step, was premiered at the festival as part of Ladyfest Eclectic @ The Elm Tree on Tuesday evening.
It was a very, well, eclectic line-up I suppose and sadly we didn't catch all of the acts. The two stand-out performers of the night were Emily's film, and singer-songwriter Jacqui Carnall.
One Little Step is billed as "a magical musical to melt your heart", and it does. There's very little dialogue, with most of the story being told through the songs; and the songs are superb - have a listen. There's also a teaser film (and I hope a trailer soon) at the film's myspace page.
I thought Jacqui Carnall would have trouble following the film, but she stormed the stage. Go and listen to her songs on her myspace page (Settle Down is my favourite from the collection there).
The festival runs until Sunday, showcasing local female artists, with all funds raised going to charity. So if you're looking for something to do over the weekend...
