Noo! So does that mean that components need to be replaced in order to allow the system to be refilled with R134?

I remember reading a while back that the price of R12 was comparitively very high compared to R134 - I guess it must be a demand thing? So maybe it'll be cheaper in the long run?

You need air-con! If only to remain cool-headed while 'making progress' along your favourite roads this summer. :)

Haven't sorted out what I'm doing about it yet, as I need to get the MOT sorted first (a pair of new tyres ordered for the back, and new rear dampers required unfortunately...).

I'll have to see how much it'd cost to get updated, but there's also a place in Sawston (village just outside Cambridge) called Constant Cooling who can recharge the old systems with R134A (if I remember correctly), so I'll have to investigate further before deciding what to do. I'm pretty sure it'll get done one way or another, given how much driving I'll be doing this summer.

Well, the R12 is now gone. From my car at least, it's safely stored in a bottle at Constant Cooling. In its place is some RS-24, and I can now chill while cruising round :-)

Much better. Was struggling to get the temp much below 19 deg. C when sat still in hot sun, but that was basically 'cos things are so hot under the bonnet with the lack of space for air to circulate :-)

Once I was out driving it was getting down to a very nice 12 deg. C or so.
